Digital Strategy.

viDesktop had been a leader in talent management software for law firms, but the talent management market had shifted with more competitiors winning favor by focusing on design and interface usability. Major changes in the industry also meant more demand from customers for performance and succession management. viDestop’s competitors were finding new ways to provide customers with a clear overview of the workforce across the whole organization, putting viDesktop further behind the pack.

A thorough competitive analysis revealed that although competitor onboarding tools had become more robust, there was still room for improvement in employee lifecycle management. We helped pinpoint opportunities within the software using extensive sales team, support team, and customer surveys. By mapping the current user journeys we were able to spot opportunities for improvement.

User Experience Design.

We reviewed the base code of the software application and created a set of standardized styles and widgets organized into developer-friendly libraries. Because our research showed that a majority of law firms had implemented smartphones and tablets in the workplace, we modified the base layouts and elements to be responsive and mobile-friendly. Each component was then detailed in a UX integration guide to help viDesktop’s in-house development team apply the updates. We paid careful attention to the overall design, color usage, and icons to come up with an end product that required virtually no training for users.

Connecting With Customers.

We made sure that viDesktop’s most loyal customers were involved in the process from the very beginning. By including them in surveys, testing, and early roll-outs, viDesktop was able to reconnect with customers and generate some valuable buzz about their software redesign. The final product provided an intuitive experience for longtime customers, while making some of the software’s best features, such as recruiting tools, candidate relationship management, and comprehensive workforce management more visible.
